We’ve all heard of chia seeds. Like quinoa, they’re a huge trend right now, and people are starting to pick up on that. Just saying “with chia seeds on top” will cost you $3, but it will be instagram worthy, that’s for sure. You can do a lot more with seeds though, and that’s why I’m here. Today I’m going to show you different ways you cause seeds, as strange as it may sound.
1.) Chia Seed Pudding
Chia seed pudding is one of the best breakfasts you can have in my opinion. The healthy fats and omegas you receive from the chia seeds combined with the greek yogurt can give you the perfect fuel for a long day. I have a recipe here if you’re interested!
2.) Flax Eggs
I love flaxseeds, and I think they may be my favorite kind of seed (that sounds very strange to say). I think my favorite way to use them, however, is for flax eggs. Flax eggs are basically 1 tbsp flaxseed combined with 3 tbsp water, refrigerated for at least 20 minutes. I usually use two flax eggs if I’m making vegan pancakes, and they produce the same results as normal eggs.
3.) Overnight Oats
As a junior in high school, overnight oats are basically my best friend. I make them the night before and add either flax or chia seeds to the mixture, which gives ir a nice boost of omegas. I’m doing a more in depth recipe on them soon, so stay tuned!
4.) 5 Minute Jam
This is my favorite way to spice up toast in the morning. All I do is add 1 tsp of chia seeds, some frozen berries, and 1/2 tsp honey. I mash it together, add it on toast, and enjoy. It’s so easy and tasty.
5.) “Bliss Balls”
These are everywhere. I’m not going to insert a recipe, as they are so easy to find, but for good reason. They make for a great afternoon pick me up, and they are minimal ingredients usually, which is awesome.
I know, I know. I said this would be for things other than toppings, but let’s be honest- they’re the best toppings. I love pumpkin and chia seeds for oatmeal, but the possibilities are endless!
