Apples and oatmeal is such an undervalued combination. They add so much flavor to the meal, and with all the fiber in one apple, you stay full for a much longer period of time.
There are so many health benefits to apples. The saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” is completely true! For the longest time, I thought I hated apples. Over the summer, however, I tried one out and I loved it. Now, I eat one apple a day (I’m not exaggerating), and I’ve noticed a lot of improvement in energy, focus, and over all well being from it. Apples are high in fiber, they can boost your immune system, and they balance your blood sugar, which is perfect for people trying to loose weight, as it will curb your cravings.
INGREDIENTS (Serves one):
1/2 cup oats
1 cup liquid of choice
1/2 an apple, chopped
1/2 a banana, mashed (I save a few pieces for topping)
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Dash of cinnamon
Pre heat your oven to 400 F. In a bowl that has been sprayed with non stick cooking spray (do not forget this step, it’s key!), combine all your ingredients (I add everything then pour the liquids in, and lastly mix it well). Use a large bowl as this will rise and you don’t want it to over flow. Set aside for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes have passed, stick in the pre heated over for 25-30 minutes, depending on how you like it (I like mine almost cake like, so I do 30 minutes, but it’s completely up to you!) Once done, remove from oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Add any extra desired toppings if you’d like and dig it. I’m obsessed with this meal, and I’m sure you will be too!
