Move over peanut butter and jelly- chocolate and peanut butter takes the cake.
When I was younger, I used to detest both of these flavors with a burning passion. Now, look at me. People really do grow up. When I got to finally eat this bowl after spending twenty minutes running to the freezer to grab the bowl, photographing it, running the bowl back to the freezer so I could prep another set up and the smoothie wouldn’t melt, and then repeating those three steps until done, you can bet I was pretty damn excited.
With summer coming up, it seemed like the perfect time to whip this out of my recipe idea’s notebook and finally make it. Anyone else have a recipe notebook or folder stuffed with ideas that they have yet to make?? *awkwardly raises hand* Seriously, this meal screams summer, which sounds odd considering it’s not a fruity dish at all besides the banana. Unless you count chocolate as a fruit, which although I’ve never thought of, I do not judge.
I always like to add protein powder to my smoothie bowls to give myself a little boost throughout the day, and today was no different. I usually use Vega Protein and Greens, but today I switched it up and tried BetterBody Foods LIVFit Plant Protein Powder, and was pleasantly surprised. It doesn’t have much of a flavor, but it still manages to provide 15g of plant based protein! Talk about winning.
Okay, I’m way too excited for this (especially the part where you add melted peanut butter and watch it drizzle over- gah, can someone say food porn?!). Lets dig in!
- 2 frozen bananas, sliced and peeled
- 2 tbsp powdered peanut butter
- Dash of cinnamon
- 2 scoops Better Body Foods Plant Based Protein (or protein powder of choice)*
- ¼ cup almond milk
- Peanut butter
- Fresh Fruit
- Cacao Nibs
- Chopped up chocolate bar
- 1.) In a blender, combine frozen bananas, cinnamon, powdered peanut butter, and almond milk.
- 2.) Blend in a high powdered blender until everything has mixed well. You may need to stop the blender and scrape the sides down, but this is normal!
- 3.) Pour into a bowl, add your toppings, and enjoy.
What combo do you deem the true classic- PB&J or Chocolate & PB?
*NOTE*- BetterBody Foods sent me these products to try and review. However, I truly enjoy their products and all opinions are my own.
