Hi hi hi!!!!!
I’m currently on summer break, so can you tell I’m a bit PUMPED??? But for today, we’re gonna talk about my favorites for the month of May!
I never thought I’d have a smoothie obsession, but here we are! With school picking up and becoming more hectic, I found myself opting for some toast with almond butter / peanut butter, granola, and fruit with a big smoothie on the side for a quick breakfast. I was sent some of these Daily Harvest smoothies, and I am IN LOVE! So good, so easy, so nourishing! I love all the options they have, and every smoothie tastes different. My personal favorite? The Mango and Papaya Antidote- because anything with mango is calling my name 😉
2.) Playoff Hockey
I’ve tweeted about this COUNTLESS times (@tennishealthfit 😉 ), but seriously- why aren’t you watch it? There is nothing like it. The atmosphere. The level of play. The excitement. THE FIGHTS- OH THE FIGHTS GALORE. If you’ve never watched playoff hockey, then you’re probably extremely concerned for my mental state because of how excited I just got. Do not judge; instead, watch a game and relish in the excitement.
I’ve never been a big stretcher. Even when I was an ice skater, I NEVER stretched. I was that kid that lied to their coach and told them they did the splits while watching TV. The only time I stretched was when I got to the rink early and couldn’t go on yet because the zamboni was making fresh ice. EVEN THEN I DIDN’T DO MUCH.
I was told by my doctors to give it a try since I’m such a naturally stressed person. I began implementing it into my daily routine slowly, and I found immediate results. Not only did I feel looser, but also less stressed. The time I took for stretching allowed my mind to clear up and I felt more relaxed throughout the day. I highly recommend you give it a try!
4.) Health Warrior
Okay, so story time. One day I went to my local Ralphs to pick up something for my mom, and I saw a Health Warrior representative stocking up their display. Naturally, being the incredibly awkward person I am, I introduced myself and explained what I did for a living. Instead of turning me away, Josh (the Southern California rep) was more than kind! Not only did he give me his card, BUT he also went to his car AND GAVE ME FREE SAMPLES OF ALL THEIR FLAVORS!!! Say what?!?! I was blown away by his kindness.
Onto the bars. I freaking love these bars. They’re so tasty and the perfect snack. My favorite flavors are peanut butter chocolate chip and mango, but they’re all so tasty. I also love their new protein bars. I’ve been trying to eat more plant based, so it’s awesome to find a bar that provides 10g of plant based protein. SCORE. The omega-3’s you get from the chia seeds, combined with the protein and healthy fats, are a good refuel after a workout or just as an afternoon snack!
5.) JUNIOR YEAR IS OVER
Junior year- it’s a rough one man. It’s as hard as people make it out to be- sorry for being such a negative Nancy about it. But whatever-JUNIOR YEAR IS OVERRRRRRRR!! Sure, I still got yearbook distribution and graduation, but other than that, I’m done. I got one year left of high school and then I’m off to college (um, what?!) You guys are watching me grow up- this is so strange.
I cannot believe I survived. Despite all those late night cram sessions and long cries to my mom about how stressed I was, I did it, and I’m a better person for it. I threw out all my notecards, handouts, and study books last week, and I feel like a new person.
I had a great month, despite finals, AP’s, and such. First off, I WENT TO A BEYONCÉ CONCERT. AHHHH, IT WAS LIFE CHANGING!!! My best friends and I went together, and it was such a great night. I love concerts, and hadn’t been to one in the longest time, so this was the best way possible to break that streak.
And two days later, as if life wasn’t crazy enough, I had my junior prom. GAHHH. As someone who hates dressing up and basically lives in yoga / workout clothing, prom is out of my comfort zone. I got my dress from a local boutique, and I’m in love with it! I got it for almost $400 off- HI HELLO WASSUP. All my friends looked gorgeous, as did everyone! We had it at the House of Blues, and instead of a DJ, it was a live band. Plus, I only tripped on my dress four times!! Go me 😉
