Too often in life we focus on the big picture rather then take it step by step. When we do this, we forget about the little things in life that make life so unpredictable and enjoyable. Focus on the little things- good and bad- and I promise you will be a different person.
It’s that song you loved when you were six. It’s the first movie you ever watched. It’s your favorite book series. It’s the color you painted your room when you were seven that you deeply regretted six months later. It’s the first house you ever lived in. It’s that shirt that you bought when you were ten that still fits somehow. It’s that one nail polish that looks good with any outfit. It’s the first selfie you ever took.
It’s the first time you cried at school. It’s the time you left school early to go home and cry to your mom about all the mean girls. It’s your first heartbreak. It’s the sadness you felt when Derek Shepard died. It’s the last hug you gave to your friend before they left for college. It’s your first dog that you had for fifteen years. It’s that weird door mat your mom put on the front porch. It’s that Christmas decoration that never stopped singing.
It’s your favorite ice cream flavor. It’s cleaning your room. It’s your favorite Disney movie. It’s your first stuffed animal that you still sleep with sometimes. It’s the unspoken seeing arrangement you and your family have on the couch. It’s your grandpa’s hugs. It’s that feeling of your teacher saying “no homework.” It’s the crispy topping on an apple fritter. It’s the sunset hikes you take every summer with your parents. It’s the goodnight hugs you still like to get from your mom before bed.
It’s the first death you ever experience. It’s the last time you can be a camper at summer camp. It’s the reality of your favorite band breaking up. It’s that celebrity death you never truly get over. It’s the post concert depression that lasts for days.
