Don’t lie, you thought of Mulan too 😉 No, no, no. Today, we’re talking all things snackage, and I’m coming to you to tell you about some of my favorite on the go eats to hold me over. As humans, we’re all busy, but that doesn’t mean we can’t eat healthy. I think that when we’re in a pinch, many of us will just grab the nearest Lay’s bag and call it a day. I admit I used to be pretty guilty of this, but I have changed my ways. I’ve discovered some pretty outstanding snack bars that I want to tell you about, so lets begin!
Lara Bars are the perfect way to ease into healthier snacks. What makes them healthier than say, a candy bar, is that besides the easy to read label and health benefits from the ingredients, the company prides itself on using minimal ingredients and really focusing on the nutrients you’ll get. Sure, some of the bars may only have three grams of protein, but you’ll be getting a nice source of carbs and healthy fats to keep you going until your next meal. While I admit I’m not the biggest fan of the texture (I like crunchier bars and these tend to be on the softer side), I find the flavors unique and enjoyable. You can find these at almost any major market or gas station, so if you’re on a long car ride, then you’re in luck!
KIND Bars & Squares
Another easy to find, healthy snack bar, KIND products offer everything you’d want in a snack bar. I know a lot of people ask “how can these be healthy when they have so many added ingredients?!”Well, lets take the Strong & KIND Roasted Jalapeño Bars that are seen above- while it may have more ingredients than say the Lara Bar, the first three ingredients read as follow: almonds, pumpkin seeds, honey. Sure, there are a few more ingredients, but you get the point- these bars offer not only a bunch of flavor, but also nutritional benefits and long term fuel to keep you satisfied for a few hours. I love the squares as well, especially when you crumble them up and use them as granola- gah, it’s a match made in heaven! You can find KIND bars at Costco or really any major store now.
Recently, I jumped on the SquareBar bandwagon, and I have zero shame. I love these bars- they make for the perfect mid-day pick me up! The variety in the combinations never fails, and they offer a nice protein boost (12g per bar!). I also love that the ingredients are easy to read, and the fact that this bar is vegan blows my mind. These are harder to find compared to most of the other bars, so I recommend ordering some ASAP (you can use my code “tennishealthfitness” to get 20% off your order!! 😉 )
My love for GoMacro bars goes way back to the early days of my blog. They were one of the first “health foodie” finds, and I’m so grateful they worked me when they did- I’ve been hooked ever since! In all honesty, I LOVE THEM. They’re flavors are phenomenal, and are the perfect fuel for long hikes, tennis matches, etc. My favorite has to be the coconut & granola or the peanut butter, but in all honesty, I have trouble picking. Made with all natural ingredients, these bars are also vegan and I promise you, they taste amazing. I know I’ve found some at Whole Foods, so you can check there, or at least order them online!
When I first saw these, I was taken aback- cricket flour?! Yeah, I was confused, but these Exo Bars are truly one of a kind. They’re paleo friendly, and even though I am not paleo, I still enjoy trying different bars based on that lifestyle, because it’s always interesting to me to see what they use. I guess cricket flour is one of those products, but man are these good. I’ve found that when I’m driving for a few hours (aka when I drive 1/2 of my annual seven hour drive to Arizona, as an example), these bars are PERFECT. I’ve never found myself getting dizzy or loopy hours later, because they fill me up and keep me satisfied until my next meal. They’re only available online right now, so order them before they go out of stock (because we all know I need to restock 😉 )
RXBAR– Love all the different flavors they offer, and they taste amazing as well!

NOLA BARS– I have no way to describe these. They’re crunchy, chocolate-y, and pure heaven. Plus, they’re grain free and provide long term fuel!
Health Warrior Chia Bars– It’s like chia pudding, but 200x better 😉
