Woah, September was weird.
First, there was the whole Colin Kapernick story, which I won’t even get into. Then, there was the fact that I got accepted into a college! Not going to say which one, or what my likelihood is that I will go there, but still- I’m officially going somewhere (assuming I don’t fail studio art, which is a TOTAL possibility). Oh, and football’s back, baby! I may have lost Keenan Allen on one of my teams and Adrian Peterson on another, but that’s okay- FOOTBALLLLLLLLLL.
I would also like to express my sadness about the Jose Fernandez death that occurred over the weekend. Waking up to that news was awful, and even though I am not a Marlins fan, I still felt a sadness I hadn’t felt in a while. My thoughts are with his family.
Overall, September was a weird month, especially for my friends and I. S**t happened, we cried, we laughed- it had it’s series of ups and downs. School’s going pretty well… I love my schedule this year, and it’s already 30x more manageable than last year! Without further ado, let’s get into things I’ve been loving this month.
My new planner
Back story about this bad boy, because I feel the need to give a backstory for everything. I was at Barnes and Noble planning my two week Italy trip with my mom (we’re leaving in May!) and I came across this planner. I knew I already had a planner, but it was too small and if you know me, you know I write my entire life in them, so I NEEDED a bigger one. Did I need a Kate Spade planner? Nope. But hey, I earned it! Oh, and it’s striped, neat, and ascetically pleasing- everything I love.
As you know, I worry about being late WAY too often. I like to get to school around 7:40 not because I need to meet with a teacher, but because I MUST GET MY PARKING SPOT. I’ve parked in the same spot for two years now, and I swear to you- it’s the best spot. No cars can park behind me, and there’s always a gap so I can pull out safely everyday. Also, the security guard that helps with parking stands there, so he gives me priority over other cars.
Enough about my car spot. ANYWAYS… on days that I shower before school, I usually don’t have as much time, so having breakfast ready to go is a lifesaver. My go to combo: oats, almond milk, greek yogurt, chia seeds, cinnamon, protein powder, and toppings galore. DO IT.
I often say Big Brother is the most underrated “stupid” TV show out there, AND I FREAKING LOVE IT. Basically, the show’s premise is putting 16 random young adults in a house for three months, not give them any connection to the outside world, and have the compete for $500,000 dollars. Sounds stupid, which it is, BUT IT’S ADDICTIVE. My friend got my hooked on it, and I’ve been watching for years. I love it as my treadmill show, because I can watch it and make the time go by so much faster. My favorite couple this season is Corey and Nicole, and my favorite overall contestant is Corey (even though I have a feeling Paulie will win).
Fall recipe’s are so much different than summer. Summer recipe’s are all about easy salads, smoothies, and grilling. While I’m all about a big summer salad, I gotta admit- nothing sounds better than an apple crisp once September hits. Oh, and can’t forget roasted vegetables. Fall recipe’s are so cozy and something about them makes me want to curl up on the couch and watch football while eating them. I got a lot of big things coming, so get ready! (PSSSTTTTT: there may even be some cookies and muffins 😉 ).
What else were you expecting? God, the excitement I get every Sunday is unlike anything else.
I guess this is your monthly “psstttt, I’m a health foodie who lives in Southern California” post. I freaking love this stuff, and have been putting it on everything imaginable. Sandwiches, buddha bowls- you name it, imma eat it with tons of sauerkraut. I love the tang, and since there are so many flavors of it, I know I can always switch it up. My favorite is Cleveland Kraut, and I kid you not, I’ve gone 2 jars in one week!
This was the month of Darius Rucker for me. I listened to the “Ultimate Darius Rucker” playlist on Spofity non stop, and fall in love more and more everyday. You know how some moms are obsessed with George Clooney even though he’s like…56? That’s me and Darius. He’s my old man crush. #NoShame My favorite songs by him are “This” and “Southern Style”.
I also got super into The Fray this month. They just have so many good “man, it was a long day and I need to cry” songs!
Oh, and this one, because it’s a true reminder how FREAKING AWESOME IT IS TO BE ALIVE.
How was your month?
