Hello foodies… today’s what I Ate Today is going to be very different. I’ll be showing an occasional recent eat here and there, but this is a strictly talking post.
I’m getting this up so late because, frankly, life has been anything but calm. Over the past two weeks, I’ve been crammed with everything possible. From tests to work to sports to homework to sleep, I seem to have zero time for anything. I’m constantly asking “HOW do people have time to watch Netflix on the weekdays? I can barley finish my homework under three hours.” Besides that, the SAT is coming up, which just adds to my stress levels. Everyday, I tell myself that I will take photos for WIAT, and I keep forgetting. I feel terrible, but with everything going on, my brain isn’t functioning so well.
They say junior year is the hardest, and they are RIGHT. I have never slept less and felt more stressed and over all mentally drained. My days look like this- wake up, workout (only time I have to do it is before school), breakfast, drive to school, study before class, go to classes, go to tennis, go home, dinner while doing homework, more homework and studying, then bed. In there I some how manage to breath. I hate sounding so negative and self conceited about how my mental state is, but in all honesty, I need a little rant session.
For me, meals have been staying on rotation. Breakfast is either oatmeal, a smoothie bowl, and the occasional toast. Lunch is the ugliest meal you’ll ever see (turkey sandwich with avocado, veggies, and mustard), some yogurt, fruit of some kind, and some carb-y snacks through out the day (rice cakes, granola, bars). Dinner is usually a bowl of veggies, some sort of protein, carb, fat, and grain. I’ve been keeping it simple, and I’ve also discovered that meal prep is a life saver. I usually pre cut my veggies for the week and put them in bags, which saves SO much time. If I’m on my way home I may ask my mom to stick some pre-cut potatoes or veggies in the oven, which is always a big help. I prep big batches of grains, as well as proteins. It’s such a lifesaver I cannot stress it enough.
I leave for a five day weekend trip to Wisconsin tomorrow morning with my family to look at a college, as well as go see the Packers! Couldn’t be more pumped, even though I’m spending all of my time on the plane studying (some blogging of course too 😉 ). I’ll defiantly do a weekend recap on it, as well as a What I Ate Today from the trip. I feel like my body needs this trip to recover, as well as my mind.
What’s on your mind?
