No matter what people say- waffles DO taste different compared to pancakes. Maybe it’s the crispiness, maybe it’s the texture- I have no idea. I do know that they are delicious, and I have finally found the perfect protein waffle/pancake recipe. HORRAY!
I’ve tried multiple times before to perfect this, and boy, did it take some time. It involved lots of failure, many broken bowls, and a ton of paper towels. If we’re being honest, I didn’t even mean to make these turn out well- I just went with an idea, and it turned out amazing!
I used a whey protein (Cellucor) for these, so I do not know how it will turn out for you if you use a different type. I’m not a protein powder expert, so I’m sorry if these do not turn out well due to the powder.
INGREDIENTS (Serves one):
1 scoop protein powder
6 tbsp liquid egg whites (or two egg whites)
1/4 cup flour of choice (I use gluten free from Bob’s Red Mill)
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
Dash of cinnamon
HOW TO: Add your ingredients into a bowl, and mix WELL. Then, pour batter into your waffle iron (I do about 1/4 cup of the batter). You should get your waffle iron while your making the batter. Once the waffle is ready (about 20-30 seconds for my maker), transfer to a plate and repeat the steps until all the batter is used. Add your toppings and enjoy- it’s that easy!
