As I’ve stated before, I love greek yogurt, and it’s one of the few reasons I’m not fully vegan. I add it to almost everything, as it gives such a great protein boost, as well as a different flavor. I prefer it without sweetener as I’ve always been a tart > sweet girl. Now I’m here to show you how to get greek yogurt in your diet!
.) Oatmeal Toppings- Adding greek yogurt as a topping for hot oatmeal is such an underrated idea. Almost no one I know does it, and I wish they did. The greek yogurt gets all creamy and melty, and when it mixes with the oats, it’s truly heaven.
.) Overnight Oats- Going off of the toppings, instead of using milk or water for your overnight oats, use greek yogurt! It’s very creamy, and for 1/2 cup, you can get over ten grams of protein- score!
.) Pancakes- Seems like a strange thing to do, but subbing apple sauce for greek yogurt in a pancake can make a world of a difference. If you want, you can mix it with some stevia before adding it to the pancake batter if you do not like the tartness of greek yogurt, but don’t knock it till you try it.
.) Sour Cream- You’ve probably heard this one before, but seriously- you can’t tell the difference. Sour cream can be filled with added fats, chemicals, etc. Sure it can taste good, but wouldn’t you rather sub it for greek yogurt, get the same flavor, but without the added nastiness?
.) Smoothies- Smoothies have been on a daily rotation for me this summer, so I have no idea why I didn’t realize this until August. Adding greek yogurt to smoothies makes it 20x creamer, and once again, adds protein. I LOVEEEEE using Siggi’s yogurts- specifically the vanilla one- or Trader Joe’s 0%.
.) Muffins- Again, this is like the pancakes. Greek yogurt adds a different texture than apple sauce, but is defiantly a welcomed surprise. I have an upcoming recipe using greek yogurt, so keep an eye out for it!
