We all try to do it- live a positive life. Some are better than others at it, and that’s completely fine. I’ve always been a relatively positive person, but I am defiantly the type who will think of the negative before the positive. And guess what… that’s normal. That’s how our human brain is wired. I’m determined to change that for myself. One way I plan to do that is listing the things that make me happy daily, and I thought what better way to get started than through writing about it. So here we go.
Freshly brewed coffee- There’s nothing like sleeping in on a Sunday, taking a rest day to relax, and enjoying a cup of fresh coffee. The sense of happiness I get when the coffee is ready is unlike anything else.
Listening to a music artists first album- As I’m writing this, I’m blasting Lady Antebellum’s first album, and it’s bringing back so many memories. I love sitting down, blogging, and blasting throwbacks. Seeing an artist grow is incredible.
Swimming on a hot summer day- Stepping in a cool pool during the middle of summer is both refreshing and relaxing. It’s almost as if the sweat that was dripping down your forehead was stress, and by stepping into the cool pool, you are releasing all that stress.
Re-reading a classic series- We all have that series that defined our childhood. For me, it is Harry Potter and the original Nancy Drew’s. I recently re-read some Nancy Drew stories, and it made me think back on third grade, when my mom and I would curl up in bed and read the mystery’s out loud to each other.
Redecorating a section of my room- I admit that I am someone who struggles with the concept of change in a lot of aspects of my life. However, I love doing little things to my room. Whether it be putting my poloroid’s up on a wall or putting a terrarium near my desk, I love spicing things up.
Movie night’s with my best friends– Getting together with my friends and watching movies is truly a blessing. Having the opportunity to bond over that is something I never take for granted, and I can’t imagine our friendship without it.
Summer thunderstorms in the mountains- If you have a bucket list, I suggest adding “experiencing a thunder storm in the mountains” to it. Summer thunderstorms are my favorite thing about going to my family cabin, as it is a down pour almost every afternoon. The thunder and lightning can be scary, yes, but for me, it is comforting. It allows me to truly unwind and relax, as I know that I can’t be doing anything else.
I’ll be posting these frequently, so stay tuned for them!
