Over the past week, I had a four day weekend thanks to parent teacher conferences. My family and I decided to take this opportunity to… you guessed it… go to a football game. Not just any football game though… A PACKERS GAME AT THE ONE AND ONLY LAMBEAU FIELD. Excuse me while I did of happiness. I couldn’t have been more stocked when my mom told me she booked the tickets for the trip.
Before we went to Green Bay, we made a stop in Madison for a few days. The first thing I noticed while there was how NICE everyone was. Seriously! We were in the airport and my lunch was $12, but for some reason, the lady only made me pay $10 because I was so nice to her. Little things in life, people, little things! As a die hard Packers fan, I got a lot of love for the Packer’s gear I was sporting. It felt good to be in an area where you could walk down a street and have an instant bond with people over sports.
Wisconsin had some of the most natural fall beauty I’d ever sen. Walking around, I was cold but I loved every moment of it. The leaves falling to the ground, as well as the crispness in the air made me very excited to go to a different environment for college (wherever that may be).
The food here was to die for! Even the first thing I had- a simple salmon sandwich from a local pub- was extremely tasty. I think one one of my favorite things I ate was this house made vegan granola with fruit and almond milk from Short Stack Eatery. Sooooo good!!
Saturday was jammed pack, with my family and I hitting the gym at 6:30 to workout (Yes, I worked out on the trip… I enjoy working out and didn’t see a reason not to just because I was on vacation). We spent the morning at a football game and walked around the campus some more. I got a feel for the game day atmosphere, which is something I was looking for. After the game I remembered all the studying I had to do so we went back to the hotel room and watched all the other games that day (Michigan vs. Michigan State anyone?!).
Our hotel had complementary apples, which was awesome for snacking on!
Sunday was by far my favorite day. We made this entire trip with the idea that we would go to Lambeau and see a Packers game… boy did it not disappoint! The game was extremely close, and it came down to a 4th and 1 pass call that the safety deflected… it was INSANE. I lost my voice in the process, but I did get a new beanie 😉 Seeing a game at Lambeau was on the top of my bucket list and this game was the best way to accomplish that.
After the win we visited a local pub for I got the brussel sprouts (duh) in a soy sauce with some GOAT CHEESE TRUFFLE FRIES ON THE SIDE. HELLO FOOD COMA. Okay I’m done with my rant. It was ammmaaaaazzzzing though and I regret nothing.
The hotel we stayed at near Green Bay was in the CUTEST town! It was right next to a tiny liberal arts college and was the definition of fall. Every single house was a classic New England-esc style with giant trees in the front. So perfect.
Overall, I had a blast this weekend, and it is what my mind needed… kind of. I say kind of because when I wasn’t with my parents (i.e every second I wasn’t sleeping, doing something, or working out in the morning), I was studying. I’m coming back to four tests this week, as well as an essay I am probably starting. Stressed is an understatement for sure, and I can already tell that I will have a lack of sleep this week. Sadly, my next break is Thanksgiving, which is a month away (big tear). For now though, I’m grateful I took this weekend to see the Midwest, as well as spend time with my family!
