Hello everyone! Sorry for my absence over the last two weeks- life has been crazy. I finished school, which meant finals, and then two days after that, I left the United States and went to FRANCE for two weeks (post coming Saturday!!) I go into all the details on my post, but for now, lets look at what I ate during a day in France (specifically Paris)
Breakfast- My mom and I walked to La Perelachaise in the morning, and stopped for breakfast along the way. This was the best croissant, and one of the best things in general, to ever touch my mouth. A croissant with powder sugar, toasted almonds, and other goods I can’t name. Everything about it was perfect- from the toasted almonds to the powder sugar to the texture. 19493/10 in my book! My mom and I split it, which was just enough for me considering all the sweets I had eaten on the trip already.
Snack- It started pouring rain, so we came back to the hotel, showered, and took a little break before going out again. I snacked on a banana from a local fruit stand while I did some blog work.
Snack- On our way to the Notre Dame, we came across the famous Ladureé. Naturally, as the giant tourists we were, we had to stop; my mom and I split a giant salted carmel macaroon. In my opinion, it was good but not great. We had had the most amazing macaroon a few days prior, at Eric Kayser (details in the post on Saturday), so nothing could top that. However, I am glad I tried this place- I’m just sad it did not live up to the hype.
“Lunch/Extremely Early Dinner”- After the Notre Dame, we walked along the West Bank, which is known for being a less touristy/more local place. My mom and I stopped at a little bakery, and picked out a mini pizza to split. You’ll notice we split almost everything, which we loved. We got to try out a lot of foods that way, instead of just having one giant serving. Plus, we didn’t feel stuffed after one thing. The pizza was good, and the size of it was perfect!
Snack(s)- After that, we walked around for a few more hours, and then came back to the hotel for the night. I ate an apple, which I got at a fruit stand once again while replying to emails and doing more blog related things.
About an hour later, I had this passion fruit greek yogurt from a local market. I tried a lot of french greek yogurts on this trip, and I love the consistency of them.
Lastly, to end the night, my mom and I tried some of these chocolate bars. They were delicious, of course! Fun fact- my mom turned me into a chocolate eater on this trip. I ate so much chocolate flavored things it’s insane! Still not a chocolate lover, but I don’t hate it anymore.
Thats it for the day! Very different from a day in California, of course. I indulged a lot on this trip, as you’ll see in the post coming in a few days, but it was worth it. I walked almost ten miles (we think) everyday, so I clearly did not sit around all day. I enjoyed every minute of the trip, and I am so great full to have had the opportunity to go with one of my favorite people, my mom. Now I’m back to my normal life of oats, tennis everyday, and my friends. But, I am on summer break now, which means more recipes and less stress!! See you all soon!
